Pacific Island Puzzles

I enjoy working with researchers in many different fields to tackle interdisclplinary problems of mutual interest. A recent collaborative book about the Polynesian outliers, small islands that lie outside the Polynesian triangle, sheds light on ancient Polynesia. Another project investigates the sweet potato, a New World plant, and its dispersal throughout the Pacific Islands in ancient times, suggesting the possibility of pre-Columbian human contact between Polynesia and South America.
